” I arrived on the day Fred Hampton died/uh, real n****s just multiply.”
That was part of Jay’s verse from Watch The Throne which refers to him being born on the same day that Black Panther Fred Hampton, was killed in a police raid.
Apparently his son Fred Hampton, Jr., feels some kind of way about it, calling Jay “Slave-Z” during a panel discussion and stating that his father didn’t “die”–he was “assassinated.” He also stated that “saying Fred Hampton died is like the school teacher telling students that Christopher Columbus discovered America.”–wow.
Clearly I don’t think Jay meant any harm. Why is everyone so damn disgruntled and angry these days. The King of the Throne has responded in true Jay-Z fashion by saying the same thing he normally says when people come at him with foolishness…nothing.
I totally understand Mr. Hampton’s sensitivity to the subject but…it’s really not that serious. The verse didn’t come from the mouth of a klan member. Calm down.
