The NBA has fined Brooklyn Nets forward Gerald Wallace $5,000 for flopping, joining teammate Reggie Evans as the only repeat offenders under the league’s new penalty system.
Clippers veteran Chauncey Billups was also issued a warning by the League Wednesday for falling backward after launching a jumper against Utah with little or no contact.
Wallace was defending a driving LeBron James in Miami during Saturday’s game when he went tumbling backward after James put his right hand on Wallace’s body while dribbling with his left.
Wallace had previously been warned for a flop against New York on Nov. 26.
The NBA defines flopping as ”any physical act that appears to have been intended to cause the referees to call a foul on another player.”
Players are warned for a first offense, with fines beginning at $5,000 for the second flop up to $30,000 for a fifth.
Seven players have been determined to have flopped after review by NBA officials. Evans is the only other player besides Wallace to be caught twice.

Kobe Bryant scored his 30,000th career point lastnight with a short jumper after a drive into the lane against the New Orleans Hornets.
Bryant joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928), Michael Jordan (32,292) and Wilt Chamberlain (31,419) as the only players to tally 30,000 or more points in the NBA, per Basketball-Reference.
Not only is Kobe the youngest player to reach this milestone, at the age of 34…he also the only player to do so while playing for just one club. The M. congratulates you! 🙂
So apparently it pays WELL to stfu! Circulating through the sports and entertainment world currently is the news that NBA baller Stephon Marbury agreed to pay his former personal chef/side chick $900,000 to keep quiet about their short lived fling. According to news sources Marbury hired Thurayyah Mitchell back in 2006 as the personal chef for his family. The two alledgedly has consensual sex about 5 times after which Mitchell claims she felt pressured to have relations with her then boss (and Tasha Marbury’s husband) in order to keep her job. Stephon fired her shortly thereafter BUT…agreed to pay her the $900,000 if she would agree to keep quiet about the affair as to not embarrass him or his family. Fair trade you say? Soo then, why are we talking about it now you ask?
Oh…because alledgedly after sticking with the agreement up to about the $600,000 mark, ol’ Stephon decided to stop paying. Apparently, Ms. Mitchell wasn’t having that! She went to an arbitrator to get a ruling on the remaining $300,000 that she said she was owed…and won! The filing became public on friday after her lawyers asked a judge to enforce the award. There has been no official statement from Marbury himself but rumor has it that his wife Tasha will be on the next “Basketball Wives“. All I can say is that must’ve been some goood…nevermind. The M as always wishes all parties involved…the best. 😉
